 An e-mail received by the author from the President of the Gourmand Awards in Spain, says that the award has been given under the ‘Best Coffee Books’ category.

 According to the mail, the winner in each country will compete against winners in the same category in other countries for The Best in the World. The results will be announced on Saturday May 28, 2016 at the annual awards event. It will take place at Yantai, wine capital of China near Beijing, during the Grapes by the Sea Festival, on the Wine Bay beach.

 Sixty four countries will participate in the Gourmand Drinks Awards this year. The names of the award winners will be published in the Gourmand official website in February.

The previous Indian winners of the award, include Vir Sanghvi, Rocky and Mayur and Pushpesh Pant.

The Gourmand World Cookbook Awards were founded in 1995 by Edouard Cointreau. It is open to publishers in all languages and countries. The Gourmand Awards celebrate global cookbook and wine book publishing, and feature many world-renowned chefs each year. 

 The book ‘The Romance of Indian Coffee’, published in 2011 by Prism Books, takes a 360 degree view of Indian coffee.

 P.T. Bopanna is a Bengaluru-based journalist and author. He has worked for various national dailies in the last three decades, including the Times of India. He has authored five books. Bopanna runs a few Coorg-centric websites and recently produced a documentary film titled ‘Discover Coorg’.
