“I’m out of words; it still hasn’t sunk in that I’m the national champion. My belief in myself and my love for the game has gone up a lot. The way I finished the year is really good for me going into next season. I am going to play the PGTI Qualifying School (in January),” said the Coorg-born champion golfer.

At the KGA course, Trishul saw off Syed Saqib Ahmed in a closely-contested final. Trishul laid the foundation for his victory in the 36-hole final with a splendid effort in the first half, when he went five up. Notwithstanding a stutter on the second 18, where his advantage had shrunk to one at the turn, Chinnappa held firm to triumph 2 and 1.

Son of Ajjikuttira Chinnappa Kaveriappa and Saritha Kaveriappa , Trishul moved to Bangalore to pursue education and golf at the age of 9 from Coorg.
