JAMMADA GAYA KARUMBAIAH, FORMER PRESIDENT OF KODAGU ZP, PASSES AWAY

Jammada A. Karumbaiah (in picture), former president of the Kodagu zilla parishat and senior Congress leader, passed away at his residence at Kaikeri near Gonikoppal in Kodagu district on April 1.

 Karumbaiah (82), popularly known as ‘Gaya’, was one of the ablest presidents of the Kodagu ZP. He was at the helm of the ZP during the 1990s. He was also famous as a hockey umpire.

Married to Nimmi Karumbaiah, he has two daughters, including Jyotsna Karumbaiah.

Karumbaiah’s brother, Jammada Belliappa’s daughter Kaveri is married to Kalanithi Maran of the Sun TV Network. Kaveri is one of India’s highest paid corporate executives. PTB.
